Q: Does Mount Zero still own the original olive grove in the Grampians?
A: In July 2022, following 29 years of ownership, founders Jane & Neil Seymour sold the olive grove to new custodians. Although Jane & Neil will physically move from the grove, they will remain involved, mentoring the new owners in the principles of biodynamic farming. Similarly, Mount Zero will continue to source the produce from the original grove into the foreseeable future.
Otherwise, it is business as usual and you can continue to purchase our produce from our incredible retailers, restaurants, online or direct from our warehouse shop at 6 Law Court, Sunshine West.
Q: Where can I find Mount Zero produce?
A: We have 3 main sales channels. We sell to retailers, cafés and restaurants and from our online store. You can view our retailer list.
Q: Is Mount Zero Olive Oil ‘Extra Virgin’? A: Yes, always! We don’t believe that anyone should have to consume anything but ‘Extra Virgin’ olive oil. It is simply the best quality olive oil available and offers the greatest taste and nutritional benefits. Next time you buy olive oil, be sure to look for the words ‘Extra Virgin’ on the label.
Q: Does all of Mount Zero's produce come from Mount Zero?
A: No, Mount Zero is a 200 acre olive grove which is not irrigated. Our pulses and grains are sourced from the Wimmera region (neighbouring the Mount Zero Olive Grove) and we work closely with a number of other Australian olive growers to curate and supplement our range of olives and olive oil.
Q: How does Mount Zero control the quality of produce that is not derived from the Mount Zero olive grove? A: With over 25 years experience in the olive industry, the Seymour family have developed a network of growers who share in our values of sustainable, quality Australian olives and extra virgin olive oil. Jane, Neil and Richard draw on their experience as growers and producers to ensure that only the best quality Australian olive and olive oil falls under the Mount Zero name.
Q: Is all Mount Zero produce Biodynamic?
A: No, while the Mount Zero Olive Grove is bio-dynamically farmed we are not able to source bio-dynamic or organic produce for every product line we sell. We do however look to growers that farm with sustainability and quality in mind.
Q: Is the Mount Zero Cafe still open?
A: No, we closed the the cafe in 2014 due to devastating bush fires in the Grampians. Since that time we have held many events at the farm, and converted the cafe into an Air BnB space.
Q: Can I stay at the Mount Zero Olive grove?
A: Yes you can, we have set up the old cafe building as self contained accommodation. Our 2 person cottage is one of the most unique accommodation options in the Grampians. Book via AirBNB.
