French Style Green Lentil Changes

February 25, 2016

While many of us have been enjoying a fairly mild summer in Victoria, it may come as a surprise to know that Mount Zero and in the Wimmera regions have been in the grips of one of the driest periods ever. The Bureau of Meteorology map beside shows that over past two years many parts of the Wimmera have received their lowest rainfalls on record. For many lentil and grain farmers in the Wimmera these record dry conditions have meant two failed crops in as many years, which is devastating for these farms and the region as a whole. As a result, the supply of some Mount Zero products has been affected, we have had to change some of the farms from where these products are sourced.  While our French Style Green Lentils are still grown in the Wimmera, unfortunately they will no longer be bio-dynamic certified.  We hope that this will be the only change we have to make.  We are also hoping for a return to more favourable weather patterns for the coming season so that we can return to further growing our range of regional, organic and bio-dynamic produce.
